SVICSA LOGOSouth Vancouver Island Classics' Soccer Association

Welcome!

Our soccer league is comprised of over-40, over-49 and over-56 teams (40+, 49+ and 56+). We're located at the south end of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Our objective is to provide an opportunity for "mature" players to participate in recreational soccer games. The emphasis is on good sportsmanship and friendliness. To this end, we do not keep a record of game results — and try not to deliberately kick each other.

Our 2025/26 season runs from September to the end of March, with an annual celebration of soccer in April (Bill Drew Memorial SoccerFest) hosting 40 or more teams from BC, Alberta, Washington and Oregon.. We also welcome the opportunity to host soccer teams from outside our region at any time of the year.

Bill Drew Soccerfest 2026

We are now FULL!

58 teams have registered, the most ever for Soccerfest.

And it’s official. Instead of having one HUB and a number of satellite fields as in past years, we will have TWO HUBs:

  • Juan de Fuca Rec Centre
  • Finlayson/Topaz

That means TWO beer gardens, TWO DJs, TWO Saturday opening ceremonies (1:00 pm at JDF and 2:00 pm at Finlayson), TWO food trucks, and TWO St. John Ambulance crews.

Efforts will be made for teams to have games at both venues to get the full experience of Soccerfest.

Bringing your own alcohol is NOT permitted and could result in the loss of our liquor licence. It’s also now unnecessary because we have beer gardens at both venues (which will also serve cider)!

Some other things to note:

  1. Women’s 7-a-side players are not permitted to play on more than one team.
  2. All teams must fulfill their commitment to play the games they have signed up for. If you’ve lost some players to injury or fatigue, your opponents will give you some of their players! That’s the spirit of Soccerfest.
  3. Be nice to your referees.
  4. There will be DANCING at both HUBs. The DJs will perform from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and Saturday and 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday. Beer Gardens and Greek on the Street Food Trucks will be open both days from 11:00 am until they’re no longer wanted!
  5. Take photos and email them to Gary at gpgarraway@shaw.ca  for our 2026 photo gallery.
  6. Speaking of Gary, he needs volunteers to help him with recycling at both HUBs. Same email address.
  7. Tournament committee member Calvin has negotiated hotel deals for teams playing in the tournament. Check them out here: https://2026soccerfestrates.softr.app/

Our scheduler Hu says that a draft schedule will be available in February and a final one by mid-March. Given the record number of teams registered, only errors and significant changes will be addressed.

We’re looking forward to a great weekend. See you in April.
