Bob Waldhaus passed away peacefully on December 9, 2018 at the age of 73 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving faBob Waldhausmily: wife Dianne of 53 years; two sons and one daughter, Bob Jr. (Tracey), Rick (Sandra), Stefannie (Chris); eight grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

Bob was a valued member of the Sooke 40+ team. He was liked by everyone and played for Sooke until he could not do it anymore.

Memories from Bob's Team Members

I remember meeting Bob for the first time on the field wearing an ADSS (Alberni District Senior Secondary School) sweat shirt.

I commented to Bob that I grew up in Port Alberni, but never attended ADSS but I did attend Junior High at EJ Dunn. Bob asked what year and if I took metal work. I told him the year and confirmed I took the course. Bob looked at me and told me he was my teacher.

How cool is that to play soccer with your Junior High Teacher!

Bob was a mentor to us younger players on the team. We all looked up to him. In his early- to mid-60s we were amazed by his ability to continue to score goals in the Over 40s games  and it wasn’t until his late 60s that his game slowed down.
